Founded by Pastor Missy Beik, Eagle’s Nest International Church Daycare and Preschool is a caring, Christian early-childhood learning center in Longwood.
“I’ve taught Sunday School since I was about 15; I always loved teaching the Bible,” says Pastor Missy. Since moving to Longwood from Pennsylvania in 1978, she has been involved in all facets of children’s religious education, from organizing Mom’s Day Out groups to starting programs that eventually grew to become Sanlando Christian School and One Church OSOTA (One School of the Arts).
Missy and her husband, Steve, established Eagle’s Nest International Church in 2006. The daycare, preschool, and VPK were founded last March. All elements of the school are licensed with the Department of Children and Families and are members of FLOCS (Florida League of Christian Schools).
“This is the third preschool and VPK I have had the privilege to help develop here in Longwood in the last 36 years,” explains Pastor Missy.
An intimate community, the school has 24 children who come to learn about Jesus and take part in the early-childhood curriculum.
“We encourage lots of art, music, dance, and hands-on learning activities,” Pastor Missy says. “I love spending time in the preschool, VPK, and daycare watching the children grow, develop their learning skills and their love of Bible stories, and sing about Jesus.”
The school is warm and welcoming. The Christian atmosphere helps the children feel safe and loved while mom and dad are working.
“As the pastor of the church, I love to see the children come into the school, and within a week they are so happy and comfortable,” says Pastor Missy.
Caring and compassion are on the list of learning objectives. The school has excellent teachers and assistants who love to help parents train their children in God’s ways. One way to do that is to teach the children about how much God loves to answer their prayers.
“One special moment during summer camp was when a two-year-old boy put his hands on a eight-year-old boy’s head because he had a headache,” relates Pastor Missy. “The younger boy asked God to take all the pain away for his friend. It is a joy to watch the children grow.”
